Twenty-one years ago, Emma Shephard was sexually assaulted and forced to leave college. She has tried to forget the trauma, building a new life as a loving wife and parent with a successful marketing career. Then her world is rocked when her rapist buys the pharmaceutical company where she works.
Now it’s an impossible choice between keeping the safe life she’s created and pursuing justice. With her marriage at risk and her child in danger, Emma finds herself at the center of ugly secrets and scandals.

When Emma was in college, she was raped, beaten, and practically left for dead. When Emma went to the University to report the assault, no one believed that the all-star football athlete could be capable of such a heinous crime. Rather, everyone blamed Emma including the University. Emma lost her scholarship and was forced to leave.
Fast forward 21 years, and Emma has put the assault behind her. She’s happily married and the mother of a teenage daughter who is about to start college. Emma has never told Aidan about the assault. Emma and Aidan are both executives at the same pharmaceutical company. When the company is purchased by none other than the man who assault her 21 years ago, Emma’s entire world begins to crumble.
Emma decides it’s time to make Richard pay for that night all those years ago. With the help of others, Emma begins to uncover all sorts of unsavory things like bribery, crooked cops, unsafe drugs, but in doing so, danger lurks for her and her family. Emma must decide if the revenge is worth the risks.
This fast-paced thriller was definitely a roller coaster ride that had some twists and turns along the way. The danger and the suspense of this novel was palpable. You couldn’t help but feel for Emma and sympathize with her need to be heard for once, but you also grapple with the consequences of the murky water she is stepping into. This is definitely a timely and eye-opening read that will help give a voice to all of those who’ve been ignored.
