WWW Wednesday: 25 September 2019

Hey book friends. So I don’t know if it’s a change in seasons or the fact that I faced with thesis writing, but my reading has not been stellar for the most part. I’ve had a few great reads, but I’ve also read a few books that have almost put me into slumps. Hopefully that changes soon.

Anyways, so today I am back for another WWW Wednesday post. Just as a reminder WWW Wednesday is a meme sponsored by Sam at Taking on a World of Words. To take part, you just have to answer the following questions:

  • What are you currently reading?
  • What did you recently finish reading?
  • What do you think you will read next?

Currently Reading

  • Obsidio by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff (audiobook) – I haven’t given up on this one. I just haven’t been in the mood for audiobooks lately, but I think it’s because I am home full-time now to write. I think I just need to start going for some walks or something and zone out to the baby!
  • How Sweet the Bitter Soup by Lori Qian (ARC) – This is definitely an eye opening story into the cultural experiences Lori encountered during her time in China. On tour for this one on Friday!
  • Shantallow by Cara Martin – The horror vibes haven’t set in yet, but ya girl is ready! On tour for this one on Saturday!

Recently Finished Reading

  • The Tenth Girl by Sara Faring (ARC) – 2 stars. The first of the books that made me want to go into a reading slump. I can honestly saw that I have no idea what in the world was happening for a good 75% of this book. The Patagonian mythology was wonderful but the plot execution was just not there for me. Also, by the time I was clued in for the plot twist, I just flat out lost interest. I’m bummed by this one because I was really looking forward to this one for months.
  • Athena’s Choice by Adam Boostrom – 3 stars. I didn’t dislike this book, but I didn’t love it either. The premise of this one is what immediately grabbed my attention, but the plot and character development fell flat. I wanted to so much more. Here’s my review.
  • Sleeping Giants by Sylvain Neuvel – DNF. I had been looking forward to reading this one for the #deepdarkreads challenge that is hosted by two friends of mine on bookstagram. I heard such great things about this one, so I couldn’t wait to read it. I got 70% of this one and just couldn’t push myself to go further. It felt like such a chore. There is so little action in the plot, and I never connected with any of the characters to be particularly excited about their dialogue the entire time.
  • The Good Luck Girls by Charlotte Nicole Davis (ARC) – 4 stars. Toted as Westworld meets The Handmaid’s Tale, this chilling debut was such a dark, and powerful story. Definitely enjoyed this one! Come back tomorrow for my review!

Up Next to Read

  1. I’m sorry that so many books have disappointed you lately 💖 I’ve heard so much about the Illuminae Files, so I hope you enjoy Obsidio! Also, all your books that you plan on reading next look amazing and I really hope they don’t disappoint you! The cover of The Vine Witch is especially super gorgeous 😍
