Women contact her to take over their love lives. She steps in when they’re lost, she’s supposed to succeed where they failed. She handles their single status, their relationship, their breakup, and very often their partner’s affairs. Her job is a life priority, she spends most of her time at the office or between two flights in business class and the fact of having a sports car that can reach one hundred kilometers in less than six seconds often make her feel like a super-heroine in service to women.

Anyway, take her card.

You’ll see, it’s much better than spending holidays in St Barts.

This was one of those books that I assumed was going to die in my NetGalley queue. I requested this book back in December, and it was randomly approved at the end of April. Since it took so long, I decided to give the book a try to see if it was worth the wait.

Baroness (yes, that’s her name or at least what she prefers to be called) is a high society seduction expert, who is narcissistic as hell. She’s the type of woman who chews up and spits out men for sheer pleasure. Baroness runs a boutique consulting firm in Paris where she hires exclusive clients that are either: 1) seeking to either exploit their cheating husbands or 2) looking for a matchmaker set up.

Baroness is incredibly condescending and believes that everyone who isn’t her is beneath her. She constantly is making fun of the way that different women in the book dress as well as commenting on their weights. I literally just wanted to shake the living sh*t out of her. Unsurprisingly, she’s even more controlling when it comes to her own love life. She controls every aspect of her relationship with her boyfriend even using sex as a power tool.

Everything changes for Baroness when her boyfriend proposes and it’s finally time for her to meet her fiance’s mother, Mrs. Beaumont. Just when you think that Baroness is cold and impossible, Mrs. Beaumont is in a different league all together. This is a prime example of someone who acquires wealth (Baroness) versus someone who was born into wealth (Mrs. Beaumont). I’ll be honest, I flew through the rest of the book because all I wanted was for karma to finally catch up with Baroness.

Overall, I did enjoy this book even though I was highly annoyed with Baroness for the majority of it. Bravo to the author for writing a character that I definitely loathe. This is going to be one of those books that you either love the story line for all of its craziness or it will utterly piss you off.
